Sanctuary Spa Skin Care Review

Hey my lovelies!

Today I have a review on the Sanctuary Spa Covent Garden skin care range, I have 4 of their skin care products, which I can't wait to talk about!

Growing up I wasn't a huge skin care fan, it was a face cloth and some water, I know!

But now that I am getting older I want to look after my skin, so I've been testing out some new products trying to find the perfect ones for my skin!

I still suffer from minor breakouts and dry skin, but apart from that my skin is so much better than it used to be.

My local Boots store started to stock the Sanctuary Spa Covent Garden skin care range. As soon as I spotted it I was immediately intrigued to try their products, mainly because I'm a huge fan of their body care products!

I have been using these products for a few months now, so I have a good understanding of the product and how they affect my skin!

Now for the reviews, you may want to go and get yourself a tea or coffee and come back, as it will be a quite in-debt review of the 4 products.

Let's go...

1. Moisture Burst Facial Wash (cleanser)

As you can see from the image, the product comes in a baby pink transparent plastic tube, which contains 100mls of product.

I think the transparent packaging is brilliant, as you can clearly see how much product you have left!

The product itself is a gel consistency with white and pink beads. These beads contain jojoba and almond oil.

I find this product very soothing on the skin, and I find it spreads over the skin really well!

Once the product is messaged in with some water it foams up very lightly.

When the product is washed off the face, the skin does feel slightly tight, but clean!

When I first smelt the product, the first thing that came to mind was the smell of rosehip oil.

The scent is strong but I personally like it, it smells quite fresh!

Oddly enough there is no mention of rosehip in the ingredients.

The product is naturally fragranced with planet extracts and essential oils.

There is Pelargonium Graveolens flower oil in the ingredients, which is also called Rose Geranium! This flowers scent is said to smell similar to that of roses, so I'm guessing this is where the scent came from.

This product is dermatologically tested and they are against animal testing! The product is also Paraben free and is suitable for all skin types.

This cleanser is designed to remove make up, dirt and impurities. I personally don't use it to remove my make up, I use micellar water first and then I wash my face with the cleanser.

 My Thoughts

Over all I love this product, I've been using this over a month now.

I will more than likely repurchase it, but I am interested to try some of their other cleansers too.

The only thing I don't like about this product is the tight feeling my face has once I wash it off, but it does go away once I apply my moisturiser.

Price

This cleanser cost €10.99/£8.00, it is more expensive than other drugstore cleansers, but it does last a long time, as a little goes a long way.

2. Polishing Hot Cloth Cleanser

This product comes in a white tube and contains 125ml of product.

I do like the packaging for this product, although I can't see how much product is left in the bottle and I find that slightly annoying!

When I purchased this product, it came in a box with a muslin cloth.

I was instantly happy that it came with a cloth and that I didn't have to purchase one separate.

The cloth is good quality and is still in perfect condition after being used and washed several times.

Instructions

There are a few steps to take when using this hot cloth cleanser.

The first thing you need to do is, heat the cloth in hot water. Then you rinse it out and place it over the face for a few seconds, this helps open your pores.

You then apply the cleanser over the face and massage in circular motions.

Using the cloth and warm water, you just gently wash away the cleanser from the face.

To finish off, you rinse the cloth in cold water and then place over the face to close your pores.

My first thought on the texture and appearance of the product was, "mm this looks odd, is it supposed to be clumpy".

When I say clumpy, I mean it was quite thick and it just looked odd, I was expecting more of a light cream because it was a cleanser.

When you apply it to the face it is quite creamy but it also feels waxy, there is beeswax in the product, so that explains the texture!

OK, so when I first tried this product, I thought the smell was horrible.
I honestly still do, but I can look past the smell and I will explain why.

If you are from Ireland you might know what I mean when I say it smells like clove rocks.

It says the fragrance of the product is made from plant extracts and essential oils; the flower oil used in this product is Camomile.

They also use cocoa butter, coconut oil and jojoba oil.

Like the last cleanser this product is dermatologically tested, it is not tested on animals and is also Paraben free.

On the bottle it says it cleans away dead skin, dirt and impurities to reveal clean, soft and glowing skin.

Although it doesn't say removes make up, I can vouch that it does and it does it quickly!

When I first purchased it, I thought it was for removing make up, I clearly didn't read the back properly.

When testing it out for the first time, I followed all the steps and massaged the cleanser into my face.

I then used the cloth to wash it away, it literally took me less than 5 minutes to do this and my make up was completely gone!

To test if my make up was completely off, I used some micellar water on a pad and just swiped it over my face, and not one bit of makeup was on it!

My thoughts

My skin was glowing after using the product, it was so strange, I have never used a product before that psychically made my skin look so good! It leaves your skin feeling so soft and fresh!

Like I send before I can look past the smell, because I love the result, it is honestly my new favourite skin care product and I will definitely be repurchasing it.

I couldn’t recommend it enough! I have been raving about it so much to my friend, that she went out and bought it for herself!

Price

The hot cloth cleanser is priced at €13.99/£10.00.

In my opinion it is reasonably priced, as it is such a good product and I would have expected it to be much more expensive.

Even though it's only a 125ml bottle it has lasted me so long, I bought it back in July and as far as I can tell I still have a fair bit left!

3. Cleanse Radiance Exfoliator

This product comes in a transparent plastic tube with 100mls of product. Again you can clearly see what product is inside and how much is left.

The product is a cleansing exfoliator, for all skin types and is gentle enough to be used 2-3 times a week.

It is designed to be used after the skin has been cleansed and is still damp.

The appearance of the product isn't very appealing, with its mucky brown colour, but never judge a book by its cover!

The exfoliator is gel based with a grainy texture. The grain texture is made up of ultra fine apricot granules and grape seed!

I was expecting the grains to be quite rough on the skin, but they weren't as rough as I thought.

Although it is more of a gentle scrub, it still felt like it was removing the dead skin!

Like any other exfoliator, I found it a bit of an effort to get all the grains off my face.

So after I splash the water on my face, I like to go in with a damp face cloth to get the remaining grains off.

The scent of this product is just amazing! It is by far the best smelling product that I have tried from the skin care range.

It has a fresh citrus scent!

Like the other products the scents are made up of plant extracts and essential oils.

In this case the ingredients are, mandarin orange peel oil, carica papaya fruit extract, lemon peel oil, pineapple fruit extract and Pumpkin.

My thoughts

For ages I used the Neutrogena Visibly Clear Spot Stress Control Daily Scrub, but this SP scrub had definitely replaced it.

Although the Sanctuary Spa scrub is more expensive in comparison, I feel like I'm getting much better results. My skin looks and feels so much healthier!

I don't have anything negative to say about the scrub, just that the grains can take a while to get off your face. That is just a minor and common issue with scrubs!

Price

The price of this product is €13.99/£10.00, it is slightly pricey for a scrub, but again I think it is definitely worth it.

Like the other products, a little does go a long way. If you are only going to be using it 2-3 times a week, it is sure to last you a few months.

I have mine over 2 months and I still have near half a tube!

4. 5 Minute Thermal Detox Mask

This product comes in a matte grey tube with 100mls of product. Again you can't see how much product is in the tube, as it is not transparent.

This skin care product is a self heating face mask, which uses its warmth to open the pores in the skin.

The charcoal and kaolin clay then draws out the impurities from inside the skin.

It also contains myrrh essential oils, which soothes and calms the skin. The mask also helps to remove excess oils, leaving the skin feeling soft.

The mask can be used 2-3 times a week!

Instructions

With this product, there are instructions on how to apply and use the product.

The skin should be cleansed of all make up and it should be left damp when applying the mask.

The mask can then be massaged into the skin on the face and neck.

Straight away you will feel the product start to heat up; it can feel quite warm in comparison to other warming face masks.

Leave the mask on for up to 5 minutes and then rinse off with some warm water.

The texture is definitely that of clay! It is quite thick and sticky, but can be spread out pretty well.

You can have it as thick or thin as you like.

It doesn't dry on the skin, like other masks, it stays wet. I did find it felt a little tight on the skin, but I still had full movement!

I have tried other clay masks before and I think this clay mask smells similar to the Boots Tea Tree & Witch Hazel Charcoal Face Mask.

The scent isn't amazing, but it isn't bad either, it's hard to describe it as it doesn't really smell of much.

It does contain sweet almond oil, but I don't think this contributes to the scent, as it pretty much just smells of clay!

My thoughts

I really love this product; I have used it for a long time now.

I used to buy it in the small tester packets, but because I loved it so much I decided to buy the tube.

Because it draws out the impurities in the skin, you will find you may get a few spots.

This isn't a bad thing; it pretty much means it is working to draw out all the bad stuff that is under the skin.

If you are interested in trying the product, you can purchase a single use sachet!

This is great, because it gives you the chance to try the product and see if you like it first, before purchasing the full size tube!

This is one of my favourite face masks to use when I am having a pamper session!

Price

The price of this face mask is €13.99/£10.00, definitely worth it, honestly!

You get 100ml of product in the bottle, which is definitely going to last you a while!

I bought several of the single use sachets, before investing in the tube. Buying the tube was the best decision, because now I don't have to go out a buy a sachet every time I want to put on the face mask!

The single use sachets cost €3.99/£2.99 and you get 15mls of product!

So when you do the math, a 100ml tube divided into a 15 ml sachet, is 6.6 times.

So round that to 7 times and multiply by €3.99/£2.99, and it will cost €27.93/£20.93 to buy 100ml worth of sachets!!!

Whereas the 100ml tube is only €13.99/£10.00 so you would save yourself €13.94/£10.93, which is almost half the price!!

So all in all, the tube is definitely worth the money. But I would advise people to try the single sachet first, see if you like it, and then purchase the tube!
