Trend Spotting: Embroidered Jeans

In the sixties jeans underwent a make-over by university and college students, when they began adding patches and embroidery work to their denim.
This style was seen a few times since the 60s but this year they have come back with a bang!

High street brands such as Topshop and Zara have many styles of embroidered jeans in there Spring/Summer 2017 collections, ranging in colour, size and design!
Not only have they different styles of embroidery, they also used the technique on different style of jeans, from skinny to mom jeans!

Although this style of jean wouldn't be considered capsule wardrobe material, they would make for a cute Spring/Summer staple!

Sailor Saturday!

I recently purchased this gorgeous leather jacket from Zara, I've had my eye on it since they released their Spring/Summer 17 collection!
I always wear black, but recently I felt I needed to add some colour variety to my coats/jackets, so a white leather jacket is definitely a change!
I decided to go down the monochrome path and paired the jacket with this black and white striped top, black jeans and plain black boots!

Spring Summer 2017 Trends

Spring/Summer is fast approaching and with that brings us new styles and trends! For this blog post I decided to share with you some of the trends you should expect to see this coming season.
Many of these trends are being brought forward from previous seasons, but may have had a few changes!
*These are not my images, taken from various sources*

Military
Balmain, Marc Jacobs, Versus by Versace.

Military and khaki have been very popular over the past few seasons and it is sticking around for Spring/Summer!
This trend has been seen in many designer runways from Balmain to Fenty x Puma.
From camo print to military inspired coats, it is safe to say this trend is not going anywhere anytime soon! YAY!!

Floral Print
Kate Spade, Balenciaga, Jasper Conran.

Lets be honest, it wouldn't be Spring if we didn't have some floral prints here and there!
Floral prints and embroidery have been popular among many design houses this coming season, but in a different context!
Instead of these delicate prints, they have embraced the more excessive, poor taste designs, which are ironically appreciated!
Designers such as Chloe and Mc Queen have included floral prints and embroidery in their collections!

Pink
Balenciaga, Celine, Valentino.

Forget about 50 shades of Grey, here comes 50 shades of Pink!
Pink has been a regular pop up on the runways this season and not in a subtle way!
This spring we are going for loud and proud with bright bold colours!

Robes
Balmain, Miu Miu, Lanvin.

Last season we seen pyjamas worn as clothing, which was a dream come true for most. I personally wished I could wear my dressing gown as a coat, well this season I guess I can! Robes and house coats have hit the runway hard, from silks to fur and in a variety of lengths!!
Honestly what more could we ask for!

Ruffles
Alexander McQueen, Chloe, Zimmermann.

Ruffles have decided to stick around for another season, but this time they are light and delicate!
I personally loved embracing the ruffles this season and I am glad they are sticking around because I'm not ready to give them up!

 Sheer
 Dior, Marc Jacobs, Alexander McQueen.

Sheer fabrics have been used by most designers this season, from Chiffon to Tulle and have been used in a variety of different ways.
These sheer fabrics have many different elements from prints to embroidery and embellishments.
Many designers embraced the sexy side of sheer fabrics, where others made them elegant and angelic.
I am personally excited about trying this trend, layering the sheer fabrics with statement undergarments.

Tulle
 Dior, Red by Valentino, Gucci.

I know I have previously mention Tulle in the Sheer section, but I feel it deserves a section of its own, due to its repeat presence on the runway this season!
Tulle was more common with children's clothing, costume and a layering fabric to add volume to dresses. This year it has been given a whole new life and it is now the centre of the show as it is the garment!
I feel this trend will be very popular among fashion lovers this season!

Over sized Shoulders
 Balenciaga, Celine, Simone Rocha.

The masculine shape has continued on to this season, bringing over sized suit jackets and puff ball shoulders.
Although a lot of designers have included this trend in their collection, I personally don't feel drawn to this style!
I do like the masculinity of previous trends, but not this season.

Stripes
 Altuzarra, Kate Spade, Lanvin.

Stripes are a must for Spring/Summer, and this season there are a variety to choose from. Designers have used stripes in different ways, pinstripes, Art pop and beach umbrella inspired, so there is a stripe out there for everyone!
I have been loving stripes lately, so I am particularity excited about this one!

The New Trench Coat
Simone Rocha, Michael Kors, Balenciaga.

Trench coats have been around for years and they never seem to fade away, but this year designers have decided to give them a makeover.
This years trench coat has had many new changes, from the placement of buttons to the overall build of the coat.
Although change can be good, do you think the trench needed a new lease of life? leave me a comment with your thoughts!

Now you know what to expect for the Spring/Summer season, are you happy with the trends? Is there anything you don't like or is there something missing? leave me a comment with your opinion, I would love to hear from you!
